Tier I is the highest classification of junior hockey in the United States. It is not an American version of the Canadian Major Junior system. The Tier I USHL will not render players ineligible for NCAA hockey competition.

-The Tier I USHL will not pay its players a salary

-The Tier I USHL will not allow signed National Hockey League players to compete

-The Tier I USHL will not jeopardize NCAA college hockey eligibility

USHL Players at NHL Scouting Combine

As NHL teams make their final preparations for the NHL Entry Draft in June, they will get an up-close look at the top prospects this week during the NHL Scouting Combine.  Among the 100 players invited to the Combine are 13 who spent the 2009-10 season in the USHL.

The NHL Scouting Combine, which will run May 24-29 in Toronto and is conducted by NHL Central Scouting, is an opportunity for NHL teams to meet and interview prospects, as well as see them tested in an off-ice setting, which includes vigorous physical, medical, and psychological tests.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, the USHL celebrates eighth season as the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league in 2009-10.  With over 230 players already committed to NCAA Division I schools and 13 NHL Entry Draft picks on League rosters this season, the USHL is the nation's foremost producer of junior hockey talent.  For more information, visit us on the web at www.USHL.com.
